Artist Background
I fell in love with mosaic art in 1993 when my husband and I explored Italy. Walking into the Venice church of San Marco, I was overwhelmed by the thousands of stones forming and depicting such beautiful art.
Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My grandfather was a wood inlay artist so perhaps this is where the mosaic seeds were born. During high school and college I bounced around in various mediums but never felt too passionate about any particular one. Walking into San Marco and feeling that art with all my five senses floored me. I knew at that moment what I wanted to do with my life and have not looked back. Basically self- taught, I connected with the Brookfield Craft Center (Brookfield CT) in 1998 where I took the traditional mosaics course and later became the teacher. I enjoy teaching very much as it gives me the ability to turn others onto this exciting art. I still keep in touch with my original Brookfield teacher Dom Gregory Havill. I in turn, keep in touch with many of my students. Having a mentor is very important.
Mosaic Art has changed my life. I am so thankful that we went to Italy that year discovering the artistic medium that I had looked for so long. The peace and accomplishment that I receive from the ancient art which begins with just one tiny piece and ends with thousands becoming whole is something I will never tire of. I continue to evolve and represent my art by exhibiting on my website, in galleries, juried shows, print, restaurant, and client commissions in the Northeast.

Resume - Katherine Love
Kathy Love is a professional mosaic artist specializing in traditional stone mosaics for floor and wall application. Mosaic services include design, fabrication, and installation of unique artwork for both residential and commercial properties. Kathy also teaches traditional, broken china, and pebble mosaics via private tutorials and workshops at the Brookfield Craft Center. Her work is represented by Brookfield Craft Center, Geary Gallery, Mystic Art Center, Positano Restaurant, Wayne Pratt Antiques, client commissions, and galleries in the Northeast.
Kathy is an elected Artist at the Mystic Art Center and professional member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) and the British Association for Modern Mosaic (BAMM). Her artwork has been exhibited through out the Northeast and was included in the juried group show: Mosaic Women: The Pieces of Our Lives at the Higgins Art Gallery, Cape Cod Community College in 2004. Love Mosaics has been featured in several publications including the March 2006 issue of Connecticut Cottages and Gardens Magazine.
